Inspiration: The name of this painting is based on a dish my mom makes and its the ultimate comfort food to me. In Marathi, my native language, its called methicha waran. This with rice and there’s nothing better you can give me. Methi is fenugreek in Marathi (my native language) and waran is a preparation of lentils.
My mom makes this dish with a peanut based sauce with coriander and green chillies. This gives it a green color and it’s spicy. 🤤 I would eat this dish 7 days a week if I could find so much fenugreek. Ask my husband.
When my cousin sis told me this reminded her of methicha waran of the style her mom makes, this got stuck in my mind and I have her to thank for finding a memory for me in this painting.
To me this painting represents nostalgia with this dish.
