ABOUT ME
I create art because it brings me joy. It helps me feel more connected in an increasingly disconnected world. It all began in 2020 when I wanted to decorate our new home on a budget, but art quickly became much more than that. It became a way for me to effectively communicate my thoughts and emotions, bypassing the challenges I face with verbal expression. The contrasting elements and intricate ink lines in my work represent the chaos and need for control that coexist in my mind.
Through a casual accident, I stumbled upon my signature artistic style—adding ink to hyper-saturated watercolors on paper. When I thought I had ruined a painting, I decided to salvage it by adding ink lines. It turned out to be a lovely mistake, and it became my unique way of bringing out the beauty of colors and shapes that I see.
I'm fascinated by watercolor because it has a mind of its own. It moves and behaves unpredictably on paper, which reminds me of the way my own mind works. Layering watercolors creates abstract shapes that are odd and unpredictable, and that's what I love about it. To enhance the beauty of these shapes, I add ink lines of different thicknesses, adding a touch of simplicity to the complexity of the medium that is watercolor. As a neurodivergent individual, my mind is always buzzing with ideas, and art provides a constructive outlet for me to transform those ideas into something more meaningful. Art allows me to quiet my mind and disappear into the structure and freedom of the creative process.
Making art is my way of sharing a unique perspective. Through my work, I hope to bring joy to others and foster understanding for people who are different or neurodivergent. It is an invitation for others to participate in an experience of perceiving life differently.
Come with me on this journey where joy, connection, and creative expression intertwine.
